QR Payments in Nigeria
Scan. Pay. Done — for customers and for merchants.
Cash is slow, and card terminals fail at the worst moment. QR payments replace both with something every smartphone already has: a camera.
Customers open Scan & Pay in the InspireMe Pay app, point the camera at a merchant's QR code, confirm the amount, and pay from their wallet. Merchants get a payment confirmation in seconds — no terminal, no change to count, and less cash left on the premises.
Merchants can also create QR codes for individual products, so a scan records the sale against your stock and shows up in your sales report automatically.
How it works for each side
For customers
Open Scan & Pay, point your camera at the QR code, check the merchant and amount, then approve with your PIN. Your receipt is saved instantly.
For merchants
Create a QR code for your store, display it at the counter or print it. Customers scan it and the payment lands in your wallet balance.
For products
Generate a QR code per product so a scan records the sale and keeps your stock levels in step.
For staff
Give employees their own access to collect payments, without handing over your main account.
For sales tracking
Every QR payment is written into your transaction history and reports, so you can see what sold and when.
For inventory
Manage product stock alongside payments, so your records match what is physically on the shelf.
How it works
- 1A merchant creates a QR code for the store or for an individual product.
- 2The code is displayed on screen and printed for the counter.
- 3The customer opens Scan & Pay and points the camera at the code.
- 4The customer reviews the merchant, the item and the amount.
- 5The customer approves with their transaction PIN and both sides get confirmation.

Frequently asked questions
How do customers pay with a QR code?
The customer opens the Scan & Pay feature in the InspireMe Pay app, points the camera at the merchant's QR code, reviews the merchant name and amount, and approves the payment with their transaction PIN.
Does a merchant need a POS terminal to accept QR payments?
No. A merchant only needs an InspireMe Pay merchant account and a QR code, which can be displayed on a phone screen or printed and placed at the counter. There is no card terminal involved.
Where does the money go when a customer pays by QR?
The payment is credited to the merchant's InspireMe Pay wallet balance, and the transaction appears in the merchant's transaction history along with the reference and timestamp.
Can I create a QR code for an individual product?
Yes. Merchants can generate a QR code per product so that scanning it records the sale against that specific item and updates the associated stock level.
Is there a fee on QR payments?
A processing fee may apply to merchant QR payments depending on your merchant arrangement. The applicable charge is shown before the payment is confirmed, so the amount is clear on both sides.
