WhatsApp Banking in Nigeria — Transact by Chat
No app to open. Chat with InspireMe Pay and get it done.
WhatsApp is already open on almost every phone in Nigeria. InspireMe Pay meets you there: instead of finding an app, remembering a password and filling a form, you send a message.
Link your wallet to your WhatsApp number once with an activation code, then chat with the assistant to buy airtime or data, pay supported bills and check your balance. Every transaction is confirmed before it happens.
It is the same wallet balance as the app — your money does not move to a different account just because you are on WhatsApp.
What you can do on WhatsApp
Buy airtime and data
Top up MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile lines with a quick chat.
Pay supported bills
Settle electricity, TV, internet and other supported bills conversationally.
Check your balance
Ask for your wallet balance at any time, without opening the app.
Send money
Start supported transfers by chat, with the details confirmed before they go out.
Receive money
Get paid into your wallet account number from any bank, as always.
Link with one code
An activation code from the app connects your wallet to your WhatsApp number.
How it works
- 1Open the WhatsApp assistant in the InspireMe Pay app to get your activation code.
- 2Message the code to the InspireMe Pay WhatsApp assistant to link your number.
- 3Choose what you want to do — airtime, data, a bill, or a transfer.
- 4Confirm the details and the amount in the chat.
- 5Approve the transaction and receive your confirmation in the same conversation.

Frequently asked questions
How do I start using InspireMe Pay on WhatsApp?
Open the WhatsApp assistant inside the InspireMe Pay app and request an activation code. Send that code to the InspireMe Pay WhatsApp assistant, and your number is linked to your wallet. After that you can chat with the assistant for airtime, data, supported bills and supported transfers.
Do I need the app to bank on WhatsApp?
You need the app once, to create your account, complete your verification and generate the activation code that links your WhatsApp number. After that, day-to-day transactions can be done from the WhatsApp chat itself.
What can I do on WhatsApp with InspireMe Pay?
You can buy airtime and data, pay supported bills, check your wallet balance and start supported transfers by chatting with the assistant. The services available to you are listed in the chat menu.
Is WhatsApp banking safe?
Your WhatsApp number is linked to your own account with a one-time activation code, and transactions are confirmed in the conversation before any money moves. As always, never share your transaction PIN with anyone who messages you, including anyone claiming to be support.
Does it cost extra to use WhatsApp?
There is no separate WhatsApp service charge. Normal transaction charges apply to the transaction itself, and those are shown before you confirm, just as they are in the app.
